**Job Purpose**

Serve the packhouse and processing unit with graded product of the correct quality whilst running/maintaining the grading facility, staff and associated processes. Report crop information to the wider business. Ownership and accountability to ensure the graders are optimised and ran as efficiently as possible to meet the raw material quality standards of the business.

**Main duties and responsibilities**
- Use all available information, i.e. line performance information, downtime information etc. to help motivate and improve the team performance.
- All areas are clean and tidy at the end of production, and all products are correctly and clearly labelled.
- Communicate all relevant information to all members of the team.
- Manage and organise the team of staff in a designated area, ensuring they follow all dress, hygiene and work procedures as laid down in the quality manual.
- Ensure all staff are fully trained in all the allocated production area and work effectively, efficiently and follow all Health & Safety rules as set out by the Company.
- Ensure that all staff in your designated area have full and complete training records for each employee under your supervision and competency assessments are carried out.
- Ensure effective communication both verbally and written between the shifts. Motivate and encourage colleagues in a positive manner.
- Ensure that all colleagues are carrying out their designated roles and tasks safely, competently and efficiently
- Reporting absence to the Grader and Site Services Manager and HR. Ensure all return to work / covid forms are completed as required.
- Assist the Site Services & Grader Manager in achieving the best possible product quality post grading.
- Actively monitor productivity on the grading line and ensure the line is operating as efficiently as possible.
- Take ownership and be accountable of the product quality by actively undertaking quality control inspections, continually monitor and react to product quality throughout the grading run. Optimise conformance of graded product to the internal quality standards required by the business for supply into the packhouse or processing facility.
- Clearly and concisely communicate quality issues with other internal departments and ensure action is taken promptly to ensure timely resolution and aid the raw material escalation decision making process.
- Ensure that all aspects of the Linkfresh computer system are utilised correctly by all staff.
- Assist and ensure that accurate information is provided to help complete grower out turn’s, labour costs and throughput analysis in a timely fashion.
- Ensure that the grading facilities cleanliness and hygiene standards are maintained to a high level. Keep your work area in a good, clean condition and follow the ‘clean as you go’ procedure.
- Perform duties to a high standard and to ensure that quality assurance and improvement processes are implemented successfully across the Company, particularly those relating to own role
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as may be requested by your Manager to ensure the overall smooth running of the business.

**Person Specification**
- Previous Supervisory experience with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment of frequent change.
- Ability to prioritise workload as the working situation develops.
- Has a proactive approach to work as they will need to meet targets to ensure the minimum of downtime.
- Keen eye for detail when conducting checks on machinery and processing paperwork.
- A keen interest in developing their skills within the grading department
