At East Sussex Healthcare Trust's Safeguarding team we are looking for a Band 7 Specialist Practitioner to join our 'Think Family' team
- working 30 hours per week between Monday to Friday.

The ethos of our Safeguarding team is 'Think Family' - as a Specialist Practitioner for Safeguarding Adults we look holistically to ensure that safeguarding supports and protects not only vulnerable adults but looks to the family as a whole

As a Specialist Practitioner for Safeguarding Adults working under the provision of the legislative framework of the Care Act 2014 and having a good, working knowledge of legislation for safeguarding children
- you will be supporting our 'Think Family' Safeguarding team in providing our Healthcare Trust with a robust, effective framework for safeguarding adults, young persons and children across our Healthcare Trust
- to include both Acute and Community services.

Supporting the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Adults and the wider safeguarding team in providing evidenced base practice throughout the Healthcare Trust.

You will report to the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Adults and work alongside Specialist Safeguarding Nurse colleagues in the delivery of our 'Think Family' Safeguarding Level Three training and Safeguarding Supervision.

As a Band 7 Specialist Practitioner for Safeguarding Adults you will work closely with our East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust Mental Capacity Lead
- supporting robust, well documented Mental Capacity Assessments.

As a Band 7 Specialist Practitioner there will be an expectation of having a good understanding and working knowledge of the current Deprivation of Liberty Protection Safeguards ( DoLs) processes and supporting our Healthcare Trust transition towards Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) in the near future.

1. To support the Named Nurses both in the Acute and Community in establishing an effective framework for safeguarding adults across the in-patient/acute areas of the Trust.
2. To support the Named Nurses in the continuing development and integration of evidence-based safeguarding practice throughout the Trust within a Think Family ethos.
3. To support the Named Nurses to provide effective specialist advice, training, clinical/ child protection supervision and to develop monitoring systems for safeguarding adults and the think family agenda across all areas.
4. To be a resource to all staff involved in safeguarding providing clinical leadership and expert advice and support.
5. To identify, instigate and participate in audit / research projects relating to Safeguarding.
6. To comply with professional codes of conduct and trust values to adherence to all, in particular those relating to professional accountability.
7. To provide clinical leadership and expert advice and support on Safeguarding issues to staff across the Trust both acute and community areas, as appropriate to area of expertise.
8. To offer follow up counselling / debriefing as required.
9. To deputise for the named nurse as required.
10. To undertake supervision for Community and Acute Trust staff as required.
11. To participate in safeguarding supervision sessions for self-development.
12. To be a resource to all staff involved in adult safeguarding and provide clinical leadership, expert advice and support both across acute and community sites.
13. To work in partnership with the Named Nurses to plan and deliver the ‘Think Family’ safeguarding training agenda.
14. To work in partnership with the Named Nurses, both acute and community, contributing to the strategic and operational planning in relation to adult safeguarding with a Think Family focus.
