There is an exciting new opportunity for a Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry based in Brecon. The post is permanent and for 22.5 hours per week. We seek an enthusiastic and motivated colleague who can demonstrate their ability to develop the existing Paediatric Dental service in Powys, work as part of our existing multidisciplinary team and have a good working relationship with visiting consultant colleagues, local GPs and Dentists.
The CDS in Powys provides a wide range of dental services including general dentistry, restorative dentistry, inhalation and IV sedation, special care dentistry, endodontics, orthodontics, and minor oral surgery. There is no on-call commitment attached to this job.
The appointee will join the CDS as a Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry and will be expected to participate in all facets of service activity.
Lead on clinical governance for the Paediatric Dental service in PTHB for patients aged below 18 years of age.
To provide dental care for paediatric patients requiring specialist services under local anaesthetic (± sedation)
To develop and Lead the General Anaesthesia pathway for children and young adults including those with additional needs and medical complexities. (No provision in PTHB possible)
To play an active role in the clinical supervision, training and education of junior staff including undergraduate student placements from any university which has agreed to place students with PTHB, DFs, DCTs and StRs
To contribute to the development and management of clinical services
To co-ordinate the care of patients requiring oral rehabilitation under general anaesthesia and ensure that there is appropriate involvement of the relevant team members in the planning of these cases pre
- and post-operatively.
