**Main Responsibilities**:

- Ensuring accidents, and the potential for accidents, are eliminated through active leadership, audit and action
- Ensure all products meet the specified quality standards at all stages of the production process
- Understand the production processes and methodologies
- Achieve all performance targets, including safety, quality, waste and efficiency to deliver the production schedule on-time, in full at the lowest manufacturing cost
- Actively lead the continuous improvement process, deliver actions for sustained improvement, and fully engage the production team
- Proactively identify and resolve problems arising during each shift and escalate to secure assistance when necessary
- Effectively communicate performance information, including current problems and actions, at shift handover and other meeting forums
- Organise the shift plan including holidays, absence and defined breaks to maximise the utilisation of our assets
- Identify and deliver agreed training and coaching for team members to achieve a more effective and efficient team performance
- Control all production stock and work in progress within value levels and to storage standards
- Ensure all required administration, documentation and data collection / entry is carried out in full, on time and accurately
- Carry out the first stage of the discipline & grievance procedures.
- Enhance your own product and customer knowledge through personal learning and working with people outside the production team

**Qualifications/ experience**:
**Required**
- Proven leadership ability and record of significantly improving individual and team performance
- Relevant experience related to narrow web label printing
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast moving, ever changing production environment
- Track record of leading and sustaining workplace organisational improvements e.g. 5S, Kanban, Visual management, Flow
- Experience implementing stretching organisational change
- Experience of using modern manufacturing improvement / problem solving techniques and able to demonstrate continuous improvement success
- A natural bias to work hands-on, with the team, in the shop floor
- Good decision maker able to act on information and data available
- Professional qualification in a technical discipline
- Knowledge of problem solving techniques / quality tools
- Advanced colour theory / control

**Desirable**
- Professional qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) in management
- Experience of ISO management systems
- Experience in the following - Flexo/Digital and Screen Printing, Coating/Laminating and Slitting
- 5’s

**Hours of work**:
This is a shift based role that will cover 24*5 day operation (and 24*7 day operation when required).

The Shift Leader will be one of several reporting directly to the Production Manager.
