Catering Assistant

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Catering Assistant to join our team in a specialist dementia care home. You’ll play a vital role in supporting the kitchen team to deliver nutritious, well-presented meals that meet the individual needs of our residents. This is more than just a catering job—it’s an opportunity to contribute to the wellbeing and comfort of people living with dementia.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Assist in the preparation and serving of meals and snacks in accordance with dietary requirements
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and dining areas
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Support residents during mealtimes with kindness and patience
- Follow food safety, infection control, and health & safety procedures
- Help with stock rotation and deliveries
- Communicate effectively with care staff to ensure residents’ preferences and needs are met
**About You**:
- Previous experience in a catering or kitchen assistant role (care home experience is a plus)
- Understanding of food hygiene and safety standards (Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate desirable)
- Empathetic and respectful approach to working with people living with dementia
- Good communication skills and a team player attitude
