We are actively seeking a Teaching Assistant to join our team and provide crucial support to a 1:1 pupil with SEND and challenging behaviour in a Primary School.
**About Us**:
At our school, we are dedicated to creating a nurturing and supportive environment for young people facing mental health difficulties and exhibiting challenging behaviours. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in helping our students build essential skills and work towards improved mental well-being.
**Position**: SEND Part Time Teaching Assistant
**Working Hours**: Monday & Tuesdays 8:30 - 1:30/2pm
**Salary**:£12.93 per hour.
**Role Responsibilities**:
Collaborate closely with our experienced teaching team to provide 1:1 tailored support to a SEND Primary aged student who exhibiting challenging behaviours.
Implement the school’s behaviour management strategies and techniques to create a structured and positive classroom environment.
Foster a safe and supportive atmosphere that encourages emotional well-being and personal growth.
Provide one-on-one and group support during lessons, activities, and interventions.
Work collaboratively with teachers, counsellors, and therapists to facilitate holistic development for students.
Contribute to creating a calm and organised classroom setting.
**Qualities and Experience**:
While formal SEND qualifications are not mandatory, the following qualities and experience are highly valued for success in this role:
- Previous experience working with young people with additional needs and challenging behaviours, ideally in a school or therapeutic setting.
- An interest in or studies related to psychology, counselling, or therapy, which can complement your ability to provide effective support.
- Empathy, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting individuals in improving their mental well-being.
- Strong communication and de-escalation skills to effectively manage challenging situations.
- Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the diverse emotional and behavioural needs of students.
- Life experience around SEMH and challenging behaviour can contribute to your understanding and connection with the challenges our students face.
