We are currently looking for a **Transport Planner** to join our fantastic team at Tarmac Birtley in Birtley, Chester-le-Street, Co Durham. As well as Birtley and Chester-le-Street, this role is commutable from Gateshead, Newcastle upon Tyne, Consett, Durham, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Darlington, South Shields, Wallsend, Longbenton and the surrounding areas.

In the role of **Transport Planner** you will be working 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday starting at 7:30am with 1 hour lunch.

**Role Responsibility**:
Reporting to the Distribution Supervisor/Transport Manager the role of **Transport Planner** will work with multidisciplinary teams with both internal and external stakeholders including customers, customer service, planning and haulage drivers. The role will also be responsible for:

- Handling of inbound and outbound calls
- Process customer’s orders
- Raise any safety concerns immediately
- Proactively chase and inform of changes
- Complaint handling
- Effective communication with key stakeholders
- Accurate recording of data
- Uphold company values
- Effective management of assets and materials
- Sourcing and management of external assets
- Effective cost management
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to multi task and manage expectations successfully
- Proven customer service and telephone skills
- Superb attention to detail
- Ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels
- Proven teamwork capability
- Speed and efficiency in making decisions
- Commercial awareness
- IT literacy
- Good geographical knowledge of the North East region (preferred)
- Knowledge of transport law (preferred but not essential)
