**Contract**: Temp/Flexible

GSL Education are currently recruiting for cover supervisors to work in 'Good' and 'Outstanding' secondary schools in the London borough of Hammersmith & Fulham for daily and short-term cover.

Cover supervising allows for flexible work and competitive rates of pay, without the workload of planning and marking lessons etc. It provides excellent opportunities for graduates to gain experience in a school setting, developing classroom experience before deciding what career path in education you wish to choose. Or perhaps you have other commitments and need a greater work/life balance. Cover supervising also gives retired teachers the opportunity to earn extra money without the planning, marking and commitment required with full-time or permanent teaching.

**What the role will involve**:

- Supervising classes of up to 30 teenagers
- Can be any age group from y7-13
- You don't need to be a specialist as work will always be left, you just need to be confident to maintain focus and keep the young people engaged
- Primary objective is to maintain control of the classroom and keep the learners working, completing the work left by their class teacher
- Communicate with the class teacher wherever possible, you may be their eyes and ears
- Be active, walking around the class and helping wherever possible - but maintain spatial awareness
- Have an opening gambit in mind, an introduction for each class as an ‘ice-breaker’ so the children can get to know you, as this will help build a professional relationship
- Advise the children that you want to leave lots of positive notes for their teacher at the end of the lesson - and do leave notes, also make notes real time so you don’t forget
- Be aware of the school behaviour policy and follow it as necessary
- Use the pupils’ names where possible, you should have a seating plan with names and photos

- You will need proof of right to work in the UK
- You will need to be able to provide references so we can conduct background checks
