Working 37.5 hours a week, you will promote the therapeutic use of work skills and leisure interests such as basic plumbing and electrics, IT, horticulture.
You will participate as a member of the nursing team working closely with the OT department to help provide work skills and leisure programmes that will enhance existing packages of care which in turn will help the patients recovery and rehabilitation. Youwill also work under the guidance of the Hospital director and work closely with the nursing and OT departments
**Your responsibilities will include**:
- To work as a member of the Multi Disciplinary Team and share information with team members as directed.
- To work closely with patients obtaining what their interests and skills are.
- To develop a rapport with patients to encourage their interest and participation in work based and leisure activities.
- To use their skills and techniques with groups and individual patients as directed, making adaptations and modifications as well as improve patient performance.
- To observe general behaviour, ability to and response of patients, recording and relaying information as requested. To supervisor and other professionals if required.
- To be responsible for the maintenance of equipment and stock and recommend the need for new items.
- To ensure that all machinery and equipment is used, maintained and stored according to appropriate health and safety standards and that the workshop remains locked when not in use.
- Undertake any other tasks requested that are commensurate and reasonable with the post holders level of responsibility.
- Comply with the guidelines laid down regarding confidentiality, disclosure of information and Data Protection.To maintain as confidential at all times information relating to patients, staff and hospital business.
**To be successful in this role, you'll need**:
- Experience and proficiency in all Microsoft Office products including Work, Excel, PowerPoint
- Experience in a healthcare setting, ideally mental health
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent organisational skills, able to prioritise, with an ability to plan own work to meet set projects
- Interpersonal skills
- Numerical and verbal literacy skills
- Ability to make judgements unaided and to work proactively
- Able to maintain confidentiality at all times.
