Position: Family Support Facilitator

Contract Type: Zero Hours

Hourly Rate: £13.00 - £15.00 (depending on experience)

Location: Longmead Community Farm, Milborne St Andrew, Nr Blandford, Dorset

Reports To: Family Support Practitioner

About the Role

Are you passionate about supporting families and making a real difference in their lives? Longmead Community Farm is looking for a compassionate and proactive Family Support Facilitator to join our dedicated team. In this flexible, zero-hours role, you’ll work directly with families to build resilience, strengthen relationships, and connect them with vital services.

Key Responsibilities
- Build trusting, supportive relationships with families.
- Assess needs and co-develop tailored support plans.
- Facilitate group sessions, workshops, and parenting programmes.
- Offer guidance on parenting, routines, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing.
- Signpost and refer families to services such as housing, mental health, and benefits.
- Collaborate with social workers and other professionals for coordinated care.
- Maintain accurate records in line with safeguarding and data protection.
- Monitor progress and evaluate outcomes with families and stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

- Experience working with children, families, or vulnerable groups.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a caseload.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Empathetic, patient, and non-judgmental approach.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and strengths-based practices.
- Flexibility to work weekends and occasional evenings.
- Commitment to inclusion, dignity, and family empowerment.

Desirable:

- Qualification in social work, family support, youth work, or related field.
- Experience facilitating group work or parenting programmes.
- Knowledge of local services and referral pathways.

Additional Information
- Flexible hours based on service needs.
- Experience in residential or therapeutic settings is a plus.
- Familiarity with rural or nature-based interventions is beneficial.
- A valid driving licence and access to transport is required.
- Enhanced DBS check will be conducted.
