Mechanical Project Engineer

**1.
- Purpose of the role**

**To be the focus for all engineering activities for In Service Projects, working with the Project Manager and In service Support Manager to ensure the product is delivered to the specification of the Product/Project**

- Key responsibilities and tasks**
- Provide information to the Project Manager, enabling accurate project planning, including providing detail of work packages, break down of tasks
and estimates of the scale of the work required to complete the project
- Manage any design improvement/obsolescance activities relating to the assigned projects, providing technical guidance in line with the Product
- Specification to the engineering resources assigned, including managing the flow of informationbetween multiple departments.
- Responsible for managing, creating and maintain specifications (ESS, ECS, MSS, MCS, GES, ETS etc.).
- Responsble for creation and maintainence of Product Bills of Materials.
- Define the content of standard project documentation (technical, operation, maintenance manual etc.) for the technical author as set out by the
- Systems Engineer in the systems specification and P&ID.
- Report on the technical content of the project to the Project Manager.This includes holding regular reviews to ensure the right approach is being
followed, and that any requirements for additional expertise are addressed.
- Identify technical risks to the Project Manager and work on the appropriate strategies for risk management.
- Provide technical support for the Project Manager in customer communications during project delivery.
- Track activities to project plans and budgets, regularly reporting to the Project Manager on progress
- Raise purchase requisitions for all project materials.
- Provide technical support for procurement, production and quality throughout the project lifecycle to ensure timely response to action items.
- Liason with Production team, lead issue resolution, report progress to Project manager during build phase.
- Provide support to SQE and Quality team as required to resolve quality issues, including raising formal request, fault finding and test support.
- Support engineering design as required by the project.
- Support the business in providing information to aid the creation of proposals as required.
- Lead testing and commissioning of equipment working with the Test Technicians and Commissioning Engineers as required by the project.
- Support Site Engineers throughout off site work with provision of information, materials and liason with internal resources.
- Ensureproject activities are delivered as defined by the project manager, including ensuring design reviews are held, FMEAs are conducted and appropriate test plans are in place.

- Provide a professional backup service for colleagues during peak times or during absence.
- Maintain continuous professional development to ensure knowledge is up to date.
- Act as an ambassador for the company in all interactions with customers and the public.
- Carry out any other ad-hoc duties as required to support the needs of the business.

**Desirable**
- Experience of working on projects
- Practical competence in mechanical assembly
- Knowledge of BS.8888 drawing practices
- Experience of working within a Defence environment
- Previous experience of an ERP system
- Knowledge of ISO9000 or a similar QA system
- Experience within a lean manufacturing environment
