**About the Role**

**Base Location**: Perth

**Salary**: £40,600- £61,000 + shift allowance + performance related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

**Working Pattern**: Permanent| Full Time

SSE's Gas Storage Business operates two large onshore gas storage facilities in East Yorkshire with a commercial team located at SSE's corporate hub in Perth, Scotland. An opportunity has arisen within the commercial office for a highly motivated and commercially minded Shift Trader.

As part of the team, you will be required to work operational shifts on a rolling 6-week 24/7 rota. The role requires lone working whilst managing the operational desk. On shift, you will be required to make important choices based on UK Gas and Power markets to effectively identify the optimised running profile of SSE Gas Storage's assets.

The role will encourage you to put in place short-term trading strategies that maximise value from the assets and hedge exposure to risk. You will be the main point of contact for operational activity including communications with; Duty Production Engineers, National Gas Transmission and Storage Customers. Training will be given on the legislation and regulation associated with market-based activity and you will be expected to develop an in-depth understanding of Gas Market fundamentals.

Key role accountabilities:

- Sole decisions on the use of the assets in the UK Gas Market.
- Trading based on strategic guidance or sole conclusion.
- Compliance with Regulation and Internal Policy.
- Clear Communications with Engineers, Customers and Management.

**What do I need?**

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Familiarity with UK or EU energy markets and/or have an interest in commodity markets.
- Been educated to degree level or equivalent in a numerical, economic, or energy-based discipline, however, all appropriate qualifications/skills/experience will be considered.
