**The Post**
Working closely with key Faculty staff to ensure clinical skills delivery across all of our programmes is efficiently and effectively delivered, offering high quality teaching and an excellent student experience.
The post holder will be responsible for teaching and assessing a range of clinical skills, the organisation, maintenance and preparation of the clinical skills rooms and relevant equipment. This will include the use of video recording and computerised/technical equipment, as well as providing assistance to students and academic staff before, during and after simulation clinical skills sessions and moving and handling training.
The post holder will also be expected to undertake a range of administrative duties which include, but not restricted to, equipment ordering, maintaining the clinical skills Centre’s inventory and mandatory training registers.
**Description of Duties**
- To teach and assess in the delivery of a range of clinical skills teaching and simulation sessions
- To develop and deliver moving and handling training sessions as required for our UG programmes
- To develop and deliver venepuncture and cannulation training sessions as required for our UG programmes
- To maintain and organise clinical skills rooms and equipment, to a high standard, for use by students and lecturers, for teaching and assessments to ensure it meets the requirements for safe practice
- To work flexibly and closely with the Clinical Skills Lead for all aspects of the operational organisation and development of the Clinical Skill Centre, simulation teaching and assessment and technological equipment/resources
- To train and/or assist students and lecturers in the use of the simulation teaching equipment and models, including video recording and editing, before, during and after the sessions as required
- To maintain accurate cataloguing and indexing of all the learning and assessment equipment and resources, organising the delivery/ return of any equipment or resources, when needed in other areas of the University’s campus site, by lecturing staff
- To take responsibility of ensuring that the Clinical Skills Centre is adequately stocked with the necessary disposable/consumable items needed for teaching and assessment, and to coordinate the ordering from the suppliers where appropriate
- To liaise with outside agencies for laundry, clinical disposables/equipment and inspection/maintenance contracts as necessary
- To ensure compliance with the Health and Safety regulations and the University’s Equality & Diversity policy when the Clinical Skills Centre is being used by students and staff
- Assist and guide students where required and respond to student queries in class or via online teaching platforms
- Where individual students require more in-depth learning and teaching support, refer them to the module coordinator
- Where individual students require pastoral support refer them to their personal tutor or student support services
- Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students in accordance with the University Quality Handbook and in particular the University Feedback Policy
- Consider feedback received from students via formal and informal mechanisms as part of the ongoing module review process and suggest changes to the module coordinator, which will enhance delivery and the student learning experience
- Maintain professional practice and continuous professional development appropriate to the role
- Attend any training and development provided by the Faculty or University
- Any other duties, commensurate with the grade of the post
