Community Sports Coaching Apprenticeship

Coach Core’s vision is to drive social mobility through apprenticeships and sport, so that every young person can reach their true potential and inspire those around them. Since our launch in 2012, we have worked with over 150 of the biggest sports providers, youth clubs and charities in the country, supporting over 500 young people. As a result of our ongoing expansion, we are now looking to launch a brand-new programme in Essex

At Godalming Youth Service you will be working towards a Level 3 Community Sport and Health Officer qualification over the course of 15 Months.

Do you want to begin a new career supporting young people?

Godalming Youth Service is delighted to be able to offer an apprenticeship position working toward a Level 3 Community Sport and Health qualification. We are looking for energetic, creative and motivated individuals to join us as an apprentice and begin making a difference in young people's lives.

Our youth service works to meet the needs of young people aged 11-19 (up to 25 for those with an additional Special Educational and Disability Need (SEND)). We aim to help young people develop new skills and self-esteem and make a safe journey through adolescence.

Responsibilities will include developing and eventually leading physical and sporting activity programmes such as Football, Basketball and other team games. The apprentice will also assist in developing Club4 School Holiday Programmes, which are positive and enriching activities for young people receiving free school meals. The activities at the youth centre are incredibly diverse, meaning that we can also adapt some of the apprentice's responsibilities to reflect their personal and career interests.

We want to offer the best possible opportunities to our apprentices. In addition to completing their Level 3 Community Sport and Health qualification, further career progression opportunities will be provided, including Safeguarding, Youth Work and Local Government training. Opportunities provided via Active Surrey, Coach Core and Godalming Youth Service will put the apprentice on a sound footing as they enter their career working with young people. Our intention and commitment to the apprentice is to seek to respond to their needs, and to support them as they begin a career journey, whether that is into leisure services, coaching, youth work, local government or any other areas.

You must be enthusiastic and passionate about inspiring others. Possess a passion for physical activity and healthy lifestyles. No prior coaching experience is required, but a willingness to learn, develop and challenge yourself is essential.

You must be enthusiastic about wanting to work within the sport and physical activity sector and be committed to inspiring others to be more physically active.

**Future prospects**

This programme may lead to possible progression into full and part time coaching roles, further qualifications, Level 4 apprenticeships and employment in other sectors (for example youth work or leisure)

- About the EmployerBroadwater Youth Centre is conveniently located in the beautiful and tranquil setting of Broadwater Park, Farncombe. The Centre provides versatile ample free parking for users of the Centre. With a large hall and a kitchen available for hire, the centre is able to host a range of activities, youth groups, societies, clubs and other community groups - details shown below.

As well as hosting its regular activities, the centre is ideally suited to host other events including children’s parties which greatly benefit from its safe gardens, which are enclosed by the unique Grade 2 listed “Crinkle Crankle Wall”.
