Head of Bids

Newly created Head of Bids role with a leading energy firm. You will be reporting into the Director of Sales & Strategy and working closely with Business Development Directors across the division. You will be managing a team of up to 7 expert bid resources to ensure the delivery of the Sales & Strategy objectives, managing the pipeline, sales and bidding performance reporting to drive a culture of continuous improvement and support the prioritisation of opportunities.

You’ll be a professional, dynamic and resilient individual who can lead from the front, manage multiple priorities, focus on the detail and deliver on time.
They want people with the experience necessary to get going quickly, but they are also interested in people who want to learn new things and feel comfortable working in a company that is growing and evolving fast to meet the rapid changes in the energy market.
You will need to be comfortable with the tight deadlines and pressures of working in a business development environment, as well as the highs and lows of wins and the occasional near miss.
Essential Experience Required:
- Background in tender / bid management and bid writing, ideally within a construction / utility-based sector
- A minimum of five years consistent track record of delivering successful tenders achieving sales / BD targets
- Proven experience in managerial positions
- The ability to operate in a matrix environment, coordinating the activities of multiple teams and functions to meet the expectations of customers
- Able to multi-task - manage multiple bids simultaneously and provide a rapid response to bid needs
- Robust skills in Microsoft office software, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Able to travel when required
Desirable Experience Required:
- Bid / sales qualifications e.g. certified to APMP Foundation or Practitioner level
- Project management skills
- Financial and business acumen
- Knowledge, previous experience and network within the utilities sector
