**Job Purpose**:
**Key Accountabilities**:
1.Understand and contribute to the development of the Data Governance Strategy working alongside the Data Governance Manager so that data across TfL can be governed in a robust and consistent manner
3. Analyse systems and datasets to identify issues with the data, and make recommendations for how to improve them
4. Plan and implement a range of data governance activities within our systems (e.g., access audits, data quality analysis, data management proposals) in order to ensure products that are developed are compliant.
5. Work with stakeholders across Data & Analytics and more widely in TfL to create a robust culture and process of data governance
6. Develop internal policies and guidance to build a robust culture of good data management, so that TfL's data products and assets are high quality and can be re-used across different areas of the business
7. Champion best practice in data governance, management and stewardship across the organisation, and work with Data Owners and Stewards to support their own efforts in these areas

**Knowledge**:

- Broad knowledge of best practice in a range of different data areas (e.g., data privacy, metadata management, reference data management, data quality management, master data management, data design and architecture, data visualisation)
- Knowledge of relevant national and international legislation pertaining to the Government/Public Sector IT - e.g., Data *Protection Act and Freedom of Information Act
- Understanding of Agile development methodology

**Skills**:

- Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills to analyse and gain insight into diverse data sets
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical personnel
- Ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Able to write policies, guidance and documentation to give clear support to both developers and non-specialist data users
- Ability to query and analyse data in a range of formats (e.g., structured, semi structured)
- Able to work with data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI)

**Experience**:

- Working in data governance, analysis, management or development across a range of storage technologies and hosting environments
- Working with a broad range of technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Use, implementation or development of data management and governance tooling
- Demonstrable ability to influence outside of direct line management control.
- Operational experience working with analytics teams and across multiple data sources including transactional and reference sources
