Young People's Liaison
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young girls and women who have come into contact with the Criminal Justice System? The Nelson Trust is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Children and Young People’s Liaison and Diversion Keyworker to join our team in Wiltshire. This role is integral to our mission of providing a restorative approach to rehabilitation and recovery, working in partnership with the Avon and Wiltshire Partnership (AWP).
As a keyworker, you will collaborate closely with NHS Criminal Justice Mental Health Practitioners to divert young girls and women away from the Criminal Justice System at the earliest opportunity. Your role will involve offering support, advice, one-to-one and group interventions, and access to specialist services. You will motivate and empower young girls and women to address their health needs, coordinating a multiagency approach to safeguard, manage risk, and reduce social harms such as homelessness, substance misuse, mental and physical illness, extreme poverty, and violence and abuse.
Your responsibilities will include providing personalised support through a holistic and integrated wrap-around signposting service, helping clients build confidence and self-esteem, and developing strategies to put control, direction, and purpose into their lives. You will coordinate referrals to appropriate support services, provide advocacy, and support engagement with the service. Additionally, you will work closely with core services to ensure that women with multiple and complex needs can access support sessions and programs of activities that offer both practical and emotional, therapeutic, and creative support.
We are looking for someone with at least two years of experience working with women with multiple complex needs, a deep understanding of the issues they face, and the ability to engage with women who may find it difficult to engage with services. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to prioritize and manage a caseload effectively. A commitment to extending professional competence and reflecting on practice is also important.
If you are a compassionate and driven individual who is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable young girls and women, we would love to hear from you. Join us at The Nelson Trust and be part of a team that is dedicated to creating lasting change.
