My client in **Manchester** is looking for an experienced **Band 6/7 Histology/ Tissue Dissection Biomedical Scientist** for a locum contract.

Job Role:

- Monday
- Friday
- 37.5 h/week
- Maintain/ develop competency in tissue dissection of category A - C specimens.
- Completion of personal and work related audits evidencing competence to practice in line with ISO 15189 and RCPath standards.
- Support the Advanced Biomedical Scientists within the department with the day to day management of laboratory staff ensuring service delivery.
- The post holder will undertake the role of a specimen dissector in a range of Histopathology sub-specialties and will achieve competency in the dissection of category A, B and C specimens to support the Consultant Histopathologists with service delivery.
- The post holder will develop agreed protocols and policies and co-ordinate their implementation in the specimen reception and dissection area.
- They will play a key role in service development for both reception and dissection areas, striving for and maintaining best practise. In liaison with the Advanced BMS in specimen reception and dissection.
- The post holder will ensure a timely workflow and assist in maintaining high scientific and technical standards.

Qualifications and Experience required:

- **HCPC registered as a BMS**:

- IBMS Diploma of Expert Practice in Histological Dissection
- Evidence of CPD
- Evidence of specimen dissection experience
- Understanding of Expert and Advanced IBMS qualification and Biomedical Scientist training pathway in Specimen Dissection
- Extensive post-registration experience in Histopathology
- A sound understanding of basic physiology, pathology and scientific principles relevant to Histopathology
- Ability to work unsupervised. Ability to prioritise workload to meet clinical demands
- Ability to communicate with a range of staff and audiences.
- Demonstrates leadership skills
- Able to plan and organise work effectively to achieve agreed objectives.
- Evidence of working as part of a team
