Internal Verifier

We, at the London School of Science and Technology (LSST), are seeking to appoint an experienced Internal Verifier for our Undergraduate and Postgraduate Provision.
**Purpose**:
The Internal Verifier will work collaboratively with the programme teams and senior management to develop and assure the quality of assessment activities before submitting them to our partner Universities. The post holder will be required to engage in quality assurance and moderation activities.
As an experienced academic the post holder will:
- Possess a recordable teaching qualification;
- Have experience working in a higher educational setting;
- Have experience in assessing at undergraduate or postgraduate levels;
- Previous experience as an external examiner is desirable, but not essential.
**Main Duties**:
- Assesses and grades a selection of assignments from across campuses;
- Gives advice to markers on how to improve student assessment marking and provide constructive and developmental feedback in line with the various and diverse modules’ learning outcomes and marking criteria;
- Attends standardisation and moderation training sessions;
- Provides examples of quality assessment feedback to markers;
- Supports marking teams with partner University turnaround periods and assessment guidelines and expectations;
- Acts as a moderator for resits of any elements of the programmes;
- Acts as the third marker when needed. For example, when the first and second markers disagree;
- Participates in external quality assurance activities where required;
- Develop and deliver face-to-face staff training sessions in our various campuses on marking and feedback provided to students;
- Submits an annual log of CPD (Continuing Professional Development) activities undertaken;
- Acts as a marking advisor in matters relating to the assessment processes;
- Provides support to Academics in the form of guidance, training, and robust appreciation of levelness;
- Current knowledge of OfS (Office for Students) and changes in the quality code is desirable but not essential;
- Submits semester reports to the academic board and the board of governors as to the quality and status of student feedback and appropriateness of marks.
**Job Type**: Part-time
**Salary**: £300.00 per day
