Technical Manager
Location: Normanton, West Yorkshire

**Salary**: Up to £70,000 DOE - Bonus & Car Allowance
Term: Permanent, Full Time
Shift: - Monday to Friday - 40hrs per week
My client started in 2006 and since then their turnover has grown to circa £300m per annum, and they now employ 1,200 colleagues at their state of the art operation in Normanton. Purpose:

- The Technical Manager is responsible for ensuring that all products manufactured by the Company meet safety, quality and legal requirements. This will be achieved by monitoring and maintaining the Company quality assurance and food safety systems, food safetyaudits, allergen management, HACCP and TACCP with particular emphasis on the BRC.
Have the ability to manage all regulatory and compliance matters, including keeping up-to-date with current legislation and customer policies, contribute to the formulation, delivery, evaluation and continuous improvement of the manufacturing strategy to provideoperational effectiveness and ensure technical integrity.
In addition to leading and developing the technical team, ensuring all supply sites have up to date accreditation. To manage and lead all third party site visits from customers, external auditors, EHO and trading standards.
Ensuring quality and hygiene standards are maintained at all times.
Main Activities:

- To ensure that all relevant legislation affecting food safety & legality are being followed on site.
- To ensure the manufacturing site is audit ready at all times and to drive continuous improvement in systems and processes.
- To maintain a robust internal auditing program to ensure that teams maintain the highest standards of food safety and product integrity.
- Implementation of Asda policies and procedures.
- Ownership of maintaining all accreditation - BRC, Red Tractor, BMPA
- Implementation and maintenance of HACCP and TACCP
- Lead a robust schedule of internal audits, responsible or non-conformance closeouts.
- Leading and implanting food safety by design across all products - product passports
- To liaise with the NPD and Process team to ensure products & processes are developed / launched & optimized, incorporating “Best Manufacturing Principles”
- Management of customer and factory specifications
- Setting site Technical policy, food safety and quality targets.
- Drive technical standards, systems and processes in line with site operational strategy
- Setting and hitting KPI’s clearly aimed at minimising withdrawals/product recalls, quality metrics and lead, coach and develop direct reports by setting clear objectives and holding teams to account.
- Ensure that the technical team has the appropriate capability, training and support to comply with food safety and quality compliance.
- Lead and implement a food safety culture.
- Identify food safety/legality risk and threat to the business and mitigate risk.
- Horizon scan the Industry and implement measures to protect brand and aid operational strategy.
- Update and maintain micro and chemical testing schedules - factory and product.
- Lead a technical business plan looking at innovation and enabling commercial strategy.
Knowledge/Skills Required:

- Technical Management experience within a fast paced chilled food manufacturing environment
- Strong and effective communicator, managing multiple internal and external stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving skills
- People Management skills
- Experience of leading customer and regulatory audits
- KPI and Target focused with a robust drive for results
- A passion for continuous improvement
- Experienced in HACCP & TACCP Processes
- Good level of experience in IT packages; e.g. Excel, Word, Power point, Databases.
- Lead Auditor Certification
- Level 4 HACCP (or equivalent).
- Level 4 Food Hygiene Qualification (or equivalent).
