**Job Summary**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Meal Preparation and Cooking**:

- Plan, prepare, and cook nutritious meals and snacks for residents, following dietary requirements, preferences, and nutritional guidelines.
- Ensure that food is prepared in an appealing way, with attention to taste, texture, and presentation.
- Accommodate special dietary needs, including low-sodium, gluten-free, diabetic-friendly, and other medically prescribed diets.
- **Kitchen Management and Hygiene**:

- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation standards, including proper storage, handling, and disposal of food items.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment and utensils are cleaned and stored correctly, and report any maintenance or repair needs.
- **Inventory and Budgeting**:

- Assist in ordering and managing food supplies, maintaining stock levels, and minimizing waste.
- Work within budgetary constraints, optimizing resources to ensure cost-effective meal preparation without compromising quality.
- **Resident Interaction and Care**:

- Engage with residents to understand their food preferences and dietary restrictions, aiming to provide a positive dining experience.
- Collaborate with healthcare staff to monitor residents' dietary needs and adjust meal plans as needed.
- Be responsive to feedback from residents and staff, continuously improving meal service and resident satisfaction.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Proven experience as a Cook, preferably in a care home, hospital, or other healthcare facility.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques suitable for elderly individuals and those with specific dietary requirements.
- Basic knowledge of dietary restrictions and nutrition in elder care.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
