Trainee Mortgage and Protection Adviser

Due to continued growth my client is looking for an experienced Trainee Mortgage and Protection Adviser, providing support to the Head Mortgage Adviser on a day-to-day basis.

The main responsibilities of the Trainee Mortgage and Protection Adviser will include: -- Responding to prospective client enquiries about Mortgage and Protection products
- Broker experience necessary and must be familiar with Mortgage Brain
- Building relationships with existing High Net Worth clients and developing a portfolio of new clients
- Completion of a comprehensive Fact Find
- Advising clients on the home buying process and managing expectations
- Explaining the different types of mortgages and providing suitable, tailored advice to clients
- Explaining and selling mortgage, income protection, Life, Critical Illness Cover and Household protection products
- Sourcing mortgages and quotations associated with protection
- Reviewing several mortgage options for the client to compare
- Preparation of accurate Suitability reports
- Managing the full mortgage and protection process, from packaging and submission to completion
- Submitting documents and keeping clients informed with regular case updates
- Dealing with estate agents, valuers and mortgage lenders to ensure business is processed smoothly
- Liaising with and managing solicitors and legal teams whenever necessary
- Keeping up to date with new products and lending criteria
- Looking after an established book of business, whilst also being encouraged to actively generate new business with a focus on protection. (The transition to full time mortgage adviser will take place over a period of 12-18 month)
- Always maintaining a professional reputation of the business.

Skill and abilities required for the position include: -- The ability to explain complex information clearly and simply
- Confidence to work with numbers and explain them to clients
- Confident with strong verbal and written communication
- Computer and IT literate, especially in MS Office and Mortgage Brain
- A pleasant and confident telephone manner
- A positive attitude to learning, particularly insurance and finance
- A strong eye for detail
- Excellent organisational skills
- A team player.

Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate Mortgage, Advice and Practice (CeMAP®), or Level 4 Diploma in Mortgage Advice and Practice (DipMAP®), RO1 Financial Services regulations and ethics, RO5 Financial protection or CF 6 Mortgage advice.
