**General Builder (Self-Employed)**

Location: East Sussex / Kent borders (typically within 60 minutes of TN6)

Basis: Self-employed, day rate (~£180/day)

Start: Summer 2025 (flexible for the right person)

**About the Role**

Dewlands LLP is looking for a skilled general builder to join our close-knit construction team on a self-employed basis. You’ll be working on a range of domestic and garden projects, from small buildings and extensions to structural landscaping and bespoke outdoor features.

The role is ideal for someone who wants to focus on the craft of building without the hassle of pricing jobs, chasing clients, or running a business. You’ll be part of a team where work is well-organised and the focus is on doing the job properly.

You’ll work independently or alongside one of our senior builders, depending on the size of the project, and will be supported by our Project Manager who handles scheduling, materials, and coordination.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Deliver high-quality building and landscaping work on domestic and garden projects
- Run smaller jobs independently or collaborate as part of a small team
- Work from clear construction plans to set out and build accurately
- Support and guide less experienced team members when needed
- Take responsibility for maintaining site standards and smooth progress

**Requirements**:

- 10+ years’ experience in domestic construction (e.g. extensions, hard landscaping, timber work, foundations, walls)
- Self-employed, with appropriate liability insurance
- Own tools and transport (UK driving licence essential)
- Reliable, practical, and able to work without supervision
- Comfortable with construction drawings and setting out
