**THE ROLE & CANDIDATE**

As the Head of Ground Operations (Fixed Wing) you are responsible for overseeing the work of the Operations Department and have the final say on any operational issues. This is a post-holder position and as such you are accountable to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) as well as forming an integral part of the AOC structure. Working in this role will require you to be a pro-active trouble-shooter, solving a wide range of operational and logístical problems, with responsibility for arranging and dispatching flights worldwide.

Specifics include:

- The management and control of the Ground Operations Department with full regard to flight safety, current legislation and Company requirements
- Monitoring of day-to-day operations in accordance with the provisions laid down in the Operations Manual, Operations Procedures Manual and within the terms of the Air Operators Certificate
- The selection and employment of Ground Operations staff
- Ensuring that the level of competency and discipline of Ground Operations staff is sufficient and consistent with Company standards
- Formulating a training policy to ensure that all Ground Operations staff are trained to a standard to enable them to satisfactorily perform their duties
- Maintenance of training records for each Operations staff member
- Maintenance of a system for ensuring that all aerodromes visited by Company aircraft are categorised prior to visit in accordance with the procedures in the Operations Manual
- Ensuring that no Commander is required to fly into an aerodrome for which he is not cleared
- Obtaining Over-Flight Clearances, Diplomatic Clearances and Prior Permission Required (PPR)
- Overall compliance with, and liaison with Head of Flight Operations on, the Company’s Flight Time Limitations (FTL) scheme together with the maintenance of a system to ensure that: ▪ For every extension of duty or reduction of rest by Commander's discretion, a Commanders Discretion Report is provided
- The responsibility includes the provision on the report of Operator’s remarks and action taken and the forwarding to the CAA of any report showing an extension of duty in excess of 2 hours or reduction of rest in excess of 1 hour
- Liaison with the Head of Crew Training to ensure that Flight Crew members are rostered for training as required by the Company training scheme
- Liaison with the Continuing Airworthiness Manager to ensure the continuing airworthiness of Company aircraft
- Monitoring of handling agents and other third-party suppliers at all airports used by the Company
- Ensure that all commitments given to customers in relation to flights sold are achievable within current legislation and the restrictions imposed by the Company Operations Manual
- Monitoring the performance of the ground handling staff to ensure that aircraft are properly cleaned and made ready for subsequent flight
- Operation and Oversight of the Centrik System
- Ensuring Certificates and Approvals on Centrik are up to date
- Overall responsibility for Dangerous Goods and Security
- Production and amendment of the Company Aircrew Roster to ensure integration with the crew training and leave schemes
- Ensuring that SaxonAir remains in compliance with the applicable regulations
- The continued and proactive involvement of SaxonAir management and staff in the Company’s Safety and Compliance Monitoring System
- Liaison with Head of Flight Operations to facilitate control of all aspects of the daily flying programme
- Previous Management experience in Aviation
- Dangerous goods qualified
