Operations Manager

You will be responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of departmental and organizational operations through the provision of effective methods and strategies. You will be looking after 12 sites aroundWest Yorkshire. A company phone and laptop are included within the role as well as mileage expenses.
- Develop and maintain effective communication links and working relations with clients, customers and staff.
- Responsible for the management and developments of several client contracts, including profit and loss.
- Always ensure the delivery of a professional service.
- Ensure all approved training is carried out and all training is kept up-to-date in line with company and statutory guidelines.
- Council and coaching staff in relation to performance issues.
- Audit unit compliance with any company administration and monitoring procedures and take corrective action where necessary:
- Ensure that work meet all health and safety policies and food hygiene legislation.
**_Financial control and accountability of:_**
- Wage cost control within agreed budget.
- Ensure that unit managers are in line with any company/agreed stock control and management procedures.
- Full responsibility for achieving company targets within a set GP and, financial management of unit budgets.
- Annual budget planning.
**_Duties will Include: _**
- Regularly checking prices to compile costing ensuring that a high standard of service is maintained within financial limitations.
- Being pro-active in development and continues improvement of the services and additional services.
- Leads and develop Unit Management team to deliver great food and service consistency across a number of catering contracts.
- Set and maintain productivity and quality standards, to ensure customer excellence and delivery of quality.
**_Ability_**
- Ensure the presentation of food to company standards and in line with good codes practice/food safety procedures and taking corrective action when necessary.
- Meeting customer and client requirements where reasonable.
- Set up and attend Client, customer & Staff meetings.
- Commitment to achieve a good standard of food hygiene.
**_Decision making and judgement:_**
Decisions take will relate to:
- Prioritising own work.
- Development of staff within the Site.
- Through staff management ensure delivery of service is consistent and within the fixed time scale.
**_Health and Safety:_**
- Initiating Company Policy for the prevention of injury, damage and wastage.
- Understanding the requirements of the Act and supporting Regulations and ensuring that these are observed.
- Ensuring that all levels of staff receive adequate and appropriate training.
- Stipulating safe systems of work, so that all work both on or off the premises is carried out in accordance with Statutory requirements, codes of practice and Company rules.
- Ensuring that employees are effectively instructed in safe systems of work and that records of instruction are kept.
- Ensuring that risk assessments are reviewed regularly.
- Ensuring that risk assessments are undertaken on any new or proposed activities or processes.
- Reprimanding any member of staff failing to discharge satisfactorily, the responsibilities allocated to them.
- Being health and safety aware seek to develop safe practices and encouraging suggestion from staff, thought regular staff meeting.
- Ensure that safety devices are fitted, properly adjusted and maintained and that defected equipment in the workplace are reported and subsequently rectified.
- Ensure that suitable risk assessments are carried in those areas under their control to identify all hazardous activities and the risk associated with such activates and that suitable records are maintained.
- Reporting and recording all accidents, incidents and near-misses into unit accident book and to Health and Safety Manager if there is cause for concern.
- Be compliant when company is trying to put together an action plan to deal with the risk.
**New Business**
- To encourage Area Managers and ensure they involve unit Staff to identify all new business opportunities.
- To assist the Operations Director and Business Development Team, as required, to obtain new business.
- Monitor and ensure smooth opening of area contracts.
**_Occasional:_**
- Identify and implement succession planning to ensure business and individual growth whilst engaging staff.
- Recruit new unit staff if a vacancy arises.
- Conduct periodic customer satisfaction surveys to gauge areas of improvement and changing customer trends.
The salary guide will be between £35k and £40k depending on experience.
