We have an opportunity for a passionate and caring person to join our dedicated team of Support Workers in our Supported Living services in Caerphilly borough, Maesycwmmer.
We have a permanent 20 hour part time position available.
This service needs to be staffed 24/7 so you will be required to work various shift patterns including days, evenings, weekends, wakeful nights and sleep in shifts as part of a rolling rota. Day shifts are typically split between 7am-11pm, with sleeps ins as extra.
Shift Times vary and include daytime hours (7-3) mid shifts (10-5) afternoons (3-11pm) and we also have sleep ins at the service, which you will receive an enhancement for.
You will receive your rotas at least 4 weeks in advance so you have time to plan your social life around work.
Due to the needs of the individuals we support in this service, a full UK manual driving licence and access to a car is required.

**How can I make a difference?**
You would be providing the essential support to an individual with downs syndrome and a mild learning disability, who absolutely loves being outdoors and out in the community. The individual has an active life, enjoying Drama, bowls, the gym and also volunteering once a week at a charity shop. As a Support Worker you will develop the skills and confidence of individuals to enable them to carry out various day to day activities as well as providing emotional support. You would make a real difference to the individuals life by enhancing his life skills and helping them maintain independence.
We also provide support to 2 other individuals who have very low support needs but require support with budgeting and building on independence so they will be ready to move onto fully independent lives.
You will be expected to support with daily aspects of living, including:
- Medication administration
- Cooking skills and other household skills
- Accessing the community and supporting to local groups
- Being a team player and having good communication skills
- Completing relevant paperwork to a high standard
- Supporting individuals to budget finances
- Providing companionship to the people we support through talking about their interests and wellbeing
- Having fun by encouraging the supported individuals to take part in activities that enhance their life skills and promote independence
- Take the people we support out and about therefore a full manual driving licence is essential for this role
