Senior Import Operator

**The role**
This role is an extremely exciting opportunity to support our London Gateway office with their operational needs.

We are looking for someone who has already worked in an operational role for a freight forwarding company who can come in and hit the ground running. You will be able to use your senior knowledge and experience to support to the rest of the operations team and other colleagues across the business where they need assistance and act as an escalation point for more complex customer queries and disputes in the absence of management.

In this role you will be responsible for ensuring all our clients receive a personable and tailored service delivery to build loyalty, ensure repeat business and enable all jobs to run efficiently and correctly.

You will be responsible for processing road, air and sea shipments for our customers and completing bookings with shipping lines, agents and haulier’s. Delivering outstanding service to our customers is everything to us so you will make sure you are tracking and communicating all updates to customers, making sure their shipments arrive on time and informing them of any delays.

You would also be responsible for all aspects of customs clearance processes on all import and export jobs as well as creating orders, negotiating rates and allocating suppliers’ invoices and sales invoicing.

Alongside service, margins are of course incredibly important to us and you will play a pivotal role in ensuring we have clear profit margins on all accounts and jobs, maximising these wherever possible

**What you’ll be able to offer**
- Extensive Experience of working in an operational role for a freight forwarding company is essential
- Understanding and operational experience of multiple products and lanes is essential. Experience of working specifically on road and air freight requirements would be particularly desirable.
- Import experience is essential and Import and Export experience is desirable
- Ability to support other members of the team with training requirements
- Good understanding of transport and Worldwide logistics
- Outstanding communication and customer service skills
- Strong negotiation skills
- The ability to develop and build strong and personable relationships over the phone and in person with a broad range of individuals
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be a strong team player
- Accountability to yourself and others
- Extremely organised with a high attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work well under pressure and able to work to tight deadlines
- High IT literacy skills
