My client in Bristol is currently looking to recruit for the above post.
Purpose of the job
Assist the Team Manager in providing high quality services to service users, families and carers in accordance with relevant legislation and policy. To operate as the senior professional within the team and deputise for the Team Manager in his/her absence as appropriate.
Key job outcomes/accountabilities
- To provide professional consultation, direction and support to team members on existing cases on a daily basis.
- Carry a caseload of individual service users and families where the problems presented are consistently challenging and complex and require advanced levels of skills and knowledge.
- To undertake joint working cases with team members where these are more complex and/or assist with the development of areas of competence.
- To provide practice learning opportunities to social work students by directly supervising/assessing the student.
- Contribute to the continuous professional development of team members, to include:
Undertaking consultation, mentoring and support of designated staff to enhance and develop their competencies.
Identifying individual poor performance and team learning needs and undertaking actions to remedy this.
- Disseminating research findings/other developments in knowledge and practice.
- Evaluation of team practices using evidence based research and theoretical models.
- Undertaking supervision and appraisal, My Performance for designated staff including assessment and review coordinator's, newly qualified social workers, social workers, administrative and other staff.
- Contribute to the induction of new team members, and to the development of staff, e.g. mentoring of newly qualified staff undertaking the specialist award.
Assist with the day to day decisions on the allocation and management of cases.
Assist the Team Manager with screening new referrals and with case allocation, ensuring workload is managed effectively across the team, taking account of experience and competence.
Chair safeguarding adults strategy meetings and act as coordinator for cases involving safeguarding issues.
- Compile team activity returns and other statistical reports as required by the department including monitoring the quality of data input onto the departmental database.
Working environment and how it will be split - (office based/from home/mixed? E.g. 3 days office, 2 days WFH) Hybrid, frequency of WFH/office negotiable
- Location/Where will they be based (on-site) Southmead House, Southmead, Bristol
- Main duties - what will a typical week look like? Managing the team duty desk, supervising a mix of social workers/social care practitioners, allocating cases, updating risk assessments, deputising for Team Manager in their absence
- Caseload expectation? x5 - x8 supervisees
- Team structure? X1 Team Manager, x2 Senior Practitioner
Currently 6.72 Social Workers and 2.46 Social Care Practitioners.
