School Immunisation Coordinator

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a School Immunisation Coordinator to join Somerset SAINT (school aged immunisation nursing team). Somerset SAINT is responsible for the delivery of immunisations to school aged children; this currently includes the flu vaccination for all school aged children. The HPV, Meningitis ACWY and the Diphtheria, Tetanus and polio vaccination previously referred to as the school leavers booster for secondary school aged children, and Covid vaccinations for 12 - 15-year-olds.
The team is seeking a motivated individual to work alongside the Operational Support Manager and the admin team, communicating with schools and families. This role will involve collating and submitting immunisation data within commissioned timescales as well as supporting the existing admin team and Operational Support manager with other administrative duties. **Responsibilities**:
Communication and Key Working Relationships
- Public health nursing Teams particularly School Nurse teams across Somerset
- Schools
- Primary Health Care Teams/Paediatricians
- Children’s Social Care Services
- Education Services including attendance service
- Children Centres.
- Other Primary Care and NHS Trusts
- Senior Managers
- Locality Safeguarding Nurse
- Patients, relatives, carers and the public
Staff will be expected to communicate in person, face to face, in writing and, where appropriate, electronically with all the above contacts.
Planning and Organisation
- Planning and communicating the schedules for each vaccination programme with education and service staff in conjunction with team leads
- Maintain supportive relationships within the Team.
- Participate in the development of initiatives within the Team and wider service.
Responsibility for Patient / Client Care, Treatment & Therapy
- Working as part of the Somerset-wide immunisation team that will deliver vaccinations to school-age children as part of the national vaccination programme. This will include Nasal Flu, Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), Meningitis ACWY and Diptheria/Tetanus/Polio booster.
- To work as part of a single point of access to the vaccination team as required
- Provide a friendly, professional co-ordination service with the necessary ability to deal with enquiries efficiently
Responsibility for Finance, Equipment & Other Resources
- Ordering and maintaining stocks of vaccine
- Collating fridge temperate charts
- Ordering and maintaining stocks of stationary, vaccination equipment and supplies
Responsibility for Supervision, Leadership & Management
- Prepare/update induction packs, including booking meetings/ mandatory training/ ID badges etc.
- Maintain personnel files.
- Send and respond to e mails on behalf of senior team.
- To act as a positive role model and lead by example.
- The post holder is expected to provide cross cover for colleagues during periods of absence.
Information Resources & Administrative Duties
- Helping to devise, implement and maintain effective and efficient office systems including filing, post, diaries
- Type reports, letters, minutes and forms etc, using the computer, maintaining accuracy, appropriate layout and presentation.
- Assist with entering data, using the Trust’s computer network, regarding vaccination sessions.
- Assist with entering data for return to child health information system using the relevant computer systems
- Take initiative where necessary, prioritising the workload to ensure deadlines are met.
- Maintain confidentiality and to ensure working practices are secure.
- Compile standard letters as required.
- Assist with the provision of staff cover in the event of sickness absence and annual leave.
- Attend meetings, taking notes and carrying out any action requested.
- Adhere to all Trust policy procedure and guidelines.
