A great opportunity has arisen to join our Chesil Locality, Family Help Team. We are looking to enhance our current Family Advisor Team to increase vital support to our Chesil children and families. We are recruiting to two vacancies, x1 37 hour fixed term until March 2026 and x1 18.5 permanent position. You will join a well-established, highly motivated and skilled team within Family Help working across Weymouth and Portland.

Being a Family Advisor in the Chesil Family Help Team, you will support children and their families, colleagues and other professionals to access a range of information, guidance and advice to help children and their families who may need it.

The role is varied and interesting and there is potential to develop skills, knowledge and understanding of family work in it's broadest sense.

**What you will be doing**
- keep up to date with local services and sources of support for children, young people and families.
- be the link person between the family information service and the localities.
- use and develop other forms of online communication to publish local services and support.
- share information about local services and support with locality colleagues.
- undertake signposting activities.
- provide information and advice on agreed topics to children, young people and families face to face, online and by telephone.
- undertake outreach with community groups and other services to provide information and advice about sources of support in the community.
- be a digital champion within localities, supporting the development of online engagement mechanisms with children, young people and families.
- provide advice and support to partners on early help processes.

Dorset Council have adopted a 'hybrid' approach to office and home working and there will also be the opportunity to work from children's centres, Family Hubs and other office buildings.

**About you**
- You will have strong administrative and ICT skills as well as a good standard of verbal and written communication.
- You will be committed to supporting and improving outcomes for children and young people.
- You will demonstrate Responsibility, Respect, Recognition and Collaboration in line with Dorset Council's Employee Behaviours.
- You will be an effective communicator and able to liaise with the public, other colleagues and professionals
- You will be able to travel around the Chesil locality and further afield when required.
- You will be flexible, approachable, adaptable and a team player.

There is a full time role at 37 hours per week which is fixed term until 31.03.2026.

There is a part time role at 18.5 hours per week which is permanent.

This post requires significant travel. You must have a vehicle (or transport we deem suitable) available for use as needed.
