Your new role
Here at National Highways we currently have a brand new opportunity for a Network Operations Manager to join our team in the East Region. This role will be responsible for managing the Regional Operations Centre (ROC), ensuring that it is delivering highquality and fit for purpose, 24/7 network control and taking a strategic overview of incidents on the network.
What you’ll be leading on
- Provide leadership and direction to the Operations Managers and ROC frontline teams, setting the tone and driving high performance and the right behaviours in the ROC.
- Be accountable for the Operations Managers and wider ROC team’s performance, ongoing development and engagement.
- Be responsible for long term resource planning, continuously assessing capacity and capabilities in the ROC, and take proactive steps to address issues to ensure the ROC team can operate effectively to deliver against current and future demands.
- Proactively monitor how the network is performing against agreed targets and the effectiveness of the ROC, and develop long term strategic plans to improve and enhance services and capabilities.
- As a member of Service Delivery leadership team, contribute to the Region’s business planning process, developing integrated service strategies and plans to benefit customers.
- Be accountable for ensuring that robust, effective and high quality processes and procedures are in place in the ROC for critical business activities including proactive network management, incident response and crisis management, operational planning,asset defect identification, management and repair, and stakeholder engagement.
- Maintain the customer experience and safety considerations at the forefront of decision making, ensuring effective deployment of resources and management of activities needed to monitor, maintain and/or resolve issues.

- Strong understanding of a 24/7 control room and a fast-paced operational environment
- People leadership and team management
- Traffic and incident management practices, procedures and protocols is preferred
- Strong stakeholder management
- Good financial acumen, including budget management
