**Location: Sheffield**

**Salary: £23,000 - £27,000 (Depending upon Experience)**

**Type: Permanent / 20 - 25 hours per week**

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and confident Payroll Clerk who is looking for a great opportunity to work with a forward-thinking, fast-moving company.

As an experienced and highly motivated Payroll Clerk, you will have a solid track record in this area and be very confident working on payroll systems, running reports and be able to work within tight deadlines with a great attention to detail.

**About this role**

You will provide an in-house payroll solution each month. Working as part of the HR team, you will also be required to carry out general HR administration and transactional tasks. As our Payroll Clerk you will also be working alongside the Finance teams and providing support to managers in the business with pension and payroll enquiries.

You will accurately update the payroll system with changes to pay and pension contributions, producing accurate and prompt salary payments to all staff. You will analyse, investigate, and resolve queries and discrepancies, and liaise with employees providing advice as required.

Attention to detail is essential, as is providing excellent customer service, first time every time. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels is a must, as too as strong numeracy skills with confidence to make calculations quickly and accurately.

Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

- Ensuring sick leave / unpaid leave / leavers / new starters / holidays taken are all recorded
- Preparing a payroll summary for Director approval
- Assisting with queries / errors from employees
- Checking and processing online payments to employees
- Keeping up to date with legislation (SSP, and paternity / maternity requirements etc)
- Preparing and submitting monthly PAYE reporting to HMRC
- Preparing and submitting monthly pension reports to our pension provider via their portal
- HR admin - drafting contracts, supporting the dispersion of onboarding documentation
- Compiling various HR reports

**Essential Skills / Experience**
- 2+ years payroll processing
- Able to work both independently and willing to take a hands-on approach to helping colleagues
- Good knowledge of MS Office software, in particular Excel and Teams.
- Comfortable dealing with various payroll queries from employees across multi office locations
- Excellent attention to detail
- Can work efficiently to payroll deadlines and ensure all data is accurate / up to date
- Understanding the importance of confidentiality and exercise discretion
