Assistant Practitioner or Senior Therapy Assistant

These posts have been newly created due to additional commissioned investment in the service, with the aim of expanding the teams ability to provide hands on therapy to those children who require it in addition to expanding our support, training and resources to families and professionals across Salford. Part of this is to expand our training and support offer to professionals and parents of children presenting with Sensory processing difficulties that are impacting their ability to undertake everyday activities.
These are varied posts and involve a mixture of administrative, non-clinical and clinical duties. Non-clinical duties include; organisation of a delegated clinic or care pathway, advice and guidance to parents and professionals on access to training and resources, setting up and reviewing of specialist equipment, management of therapy resources and supporting audit and service development. Clinical duties include working in various settings with children as part of the multi-disciplinary team alongside Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists; assisting patients in improving their mobility and function; maintain their body shape and develop their independence and participation in everyday activities. This will be achieved by Completion of individual treatment and reviews following initial assessment by a qualified therapist; Implementation of 24 hour postural management programmes including supporting provision and use of specialist equipment; Completion of assessments following specific protocols and Leading groups, providing specific therapy to small cohorts of children or young people.
Additional in house training will be provided to support development of skills to enable the post holders to complete the more advanced parts of these roles.
