**Systems Support Engineer**

Type**:PERMANENT**

Location**:REMOTE**(with access to shared working spaces in Cheltenham, Reading and London)

Clearance: Must be eligible for **SC clearance** (Having resided in the UK for the last 5 years)

**Salary**: £40,000 - £50,000

This role requires a team player with excellent communication, that is keen to share their knowledge and develop in an environment where innovation is key.

**Responsibilities**:

- Maintain our internal corporate services (hosted in AWS)
- Automate the provisioning of environments in AWS using technology that we adopt (Terraform / Docker)
- Assist with automation workflows
- Work with our software development teams using DevOps best practices
- Troubleshoot problems
- Participate in the Agile DevOps design, development, testing and release of new capabilities and features, with a focus on release and post-production support
- Be part of our Care (Support) team, working to SLAs for a number of our operational products
- Work within our corporate Security Policy, ISO27001 compliance and change management
- Resolve second line support issues and where necessary liaise with clients, internal customers, and support partners in order to resolve second line support issues.
- Be part of an occasional out-of-hours on call rota.

**Skills and Experience**:
**Essential**:

- Commercial experience within a software engineering environment
- Demonstrable experience in commodity cloud services such as AWS
- Experience in Linux / Unix administration
- Detail-orientated with strong critical thinking skills and a problem-solving aptitude
- Ability to work remotely to support multiple teams and projects
- Disciplined, self-organised and motivated to learn and improve in a busy and changing environment
- Demonstrable _Customer Service_ characteristics: good verbal and written communication skills
- **Hold a Computer Science, Engineering, Security, or numerate degree qualification, a BTEC Higher National Diploma or other vocational equivalent (such as identifiable contribution to an Open-Source project)**

**Desirable**
- Exposure to any of the skills below - Not expected to know them all_
- Experience of managing and patching core infrastructure and production services.
- Working understanding of infrastructure as code and scripting (eg AWS LAMDA or Bash Scripting)
- Experience cloud databases (eg. AWS RDS)
- Familiar with development tools such as Gitlab, Jenkins, Git or Atlassian
