A great opportunity has arisen for a professional, highly motivated and organised individual join our Trading Standards team undertaking work as an Illegal Tobacco & Vape Enforcement Officer on a 2-year fixed term contract.
You’ll join a small but busy team investigating the sale of illegal tobacco and vapes, and the sale of these age restricted products, the role includes undertaking formal investigations and evidence gathering through to delivering prosecution reports, as well as engaging with businesses and other relevant settings to educate and raise awareness around illegal vapes and tobacco products.
The role will be varied, involving proactive and reactive work, you will be joining a friendly and supportive team of experienced professional Trading Standards officers within a wider regulatory service.
You will have great communications skills, and significant experience of delivering Trading Standards or similar enforcement activities and the ability to deal with potential conflicts as well as interact professionally with relevant stake holders and partners.
**Responsibilities of the role will include;**
- Act on intelligence received, advising businesses, test purchasing, seizing illegal products, and gathering further intelligence.
- Assist with the investigation of criminal offences of the sale of illegal tobacco and vapes and the sale of age restricted products to minors and assist in preparing prosecution case files as necessary
- Complete administration tasks
- Updating the national intelligence database and completing regional and national statistical returns.
The role will deliver activities and outcomes to protect consumers, children and legitimate businesses as well as promote local public health agenda’s and target criminal activity associated to the local supply of illegal tobacco and vapes within the Borough.
The service already utilise technology to enhance the delivery of services and provide officers with efficient and modern working practices to support a great work life balance.
Training related to Illegal Tobacco and Vapes will also be provided as required.
