**Research Engineer - Sensor Fusion**

**Avanti Recruitment** have partnered with a Bristol based company developing gold-standard inspection, measurement and spatial mapping systems used in industries as diverse as aerospace, formula 1, civil engineering and construction.

We’re looking for a Research Engineer to join their R&D group developing their next generation of products capable of taking non-contact measurements of an object and monitoring its behaviour down to fractions of a micron and then producing actionable datato help in all sorts of engineering product development work.

Working with the Research Lead, you’ll be a creative thinker with a background in maths, physics or computer science with some experience working with sensors, cameras or optics and be given support and backing from the senior team as well as stacks of creativefreedom for your research with all the equipment, tools and budgets you’d need in order to develop innovative and high-performance proof of concepts and prototypes. One day you might be working with numbers and large datasets, the next you might be breadboardingsome components together and getting a rough prototype together for a new idea in their state of the art workshop.

**You’ll need**:
A good degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or Mathematics

A flair for mathematics covering topics like 3D computational geometry

Some coding experience with C++ or a background in systems and electronics (some C# would be useful too, but not essential).

A willingness to get hands on with physical bits of kit and get a solution up and running - as opposed to just theoretical work.

Experience with camera systems, optics, computer vision or image processing.
