Gilkes has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated **Logistics Operative** to join us at our head office in Kendal.

Reporting to the Logistics Supervisor you will join the Logistics Team to support an increase in customer orders. You will also provide additional support to cover the Stores and auxiliary operations within Operations as required to meet peaks in demand.

**Responsibilities**
- To assemble packing crates in accordance with the customer packing specifications in line with business volumes
- Support the logístical service delivered to all internal and external customers
- Complying with all Health and Safety regulations
- To monitor the amount of rejected parts held in Inspection
- List and pack rejected parts for return to the foundry and pass details to the logistics office
- Carry out other reasonable duties as requested by the Logistics Supervisor or Logistics Manager
- Use and operate a range of machinery and tools as required (e.g. Instapak machine & paper coiler)
- Some heavy lifting may be required
- Maintain good levels of housekeeping within the logistics loading bay and associated warehouse

**Experience/personal skills**
- GCSE or ‘O’ Level grades A - C or equivalent qualification, including English and Mathematics
- Previous Loading Bay and Logistics experience
- Be a self-starter, results driven, and eager to adjust to the changing needs of the company
- Flexible, adaptable and a positive attitude to work
- High level of mental, physical and visual attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure, deliver high quality work and to tight deadlines
- Have good communication, planning and organisational skills
- Ability to work in a team in a fast-paced environment
