Taking up the role as a dynamic corporate manager and a senior environmental health operational lead, you will drive and inspire high-quality services for our residents and deliver a range of exciting projects. We need a highly capable and flexible environmental health professional with specialist expertise in environmental and community protection. One who is passionate about leading our team delivering a range of services to the highest possible standard, with a proven track record of managing professionals, creating a positive working culture, and delivering results.

As our Environmental Protection Manager, you'll oversee and innovate the strong protection of our communities and environmental quality. This is a key role in shaping and organising high-quality service delivery, driving support and seeking opportunities for improvement across two districts. Your work will be customer-oriented and outcome-focused, and you'll need to keep people at the heart of everything you do.

We operate from new headquarters purpose-designed for collaboration, with hybrid working and highly flexible working arrangements. We pride ourselves on excellent care for our communities and our members have invested strongly in some exciting new roles within the team.

What you'll be doing...

*Leading the operational delivery of the environmental and community protection teams and innovative projects.
*Managing, planning, developing and continuously improving the delivery of services.
*Ensuring the Councils meet the wide range of statutory duties to protect public health and the environment by implementing environmental legislation in relation to statutory nuisances and anti-social behaviour, air quality, contaminated land, water quality and pollution control.
*Maintaining and developing the Councils' environmental protection operating policies and procedures to reflect legislative change and current good practice, reviewing and updating them as required.
*Overseeing the team's successful interventions and enforcement activity, cultivating high standards and maximising our positive impact.
*Developing great professional and community networks, and highly productive working relationships with our stakeholders.

You must have...

*A degree or equivalent qualification recognised by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health or the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland.
*A relevant management qualification would be an advantage.
*Evidence of significant post-qualification experience in a similar or related role.
*An ability to demonstrate leadership experience.
*Knowledge and understanding of the full range of environmental protection functions and comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation. practical skills required in the planning discipline.
*Experience of successfully leading, developing and motivating a team.
*Skilled and creative problem solver.
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience of delivering to a wide range of audiences.
