Lead Data Scientist

This is a new and exciting opportunity for a highly experienced data scientist to take a lead role in utilising advanced analytics to help discover insights from the organisations complex data landscape, which will enable smarter decision making across multiplebusiness areas.
You will have extensive experience using a variety of data science techniques for developing and implementing ML models, while keeping abreast of latest developments in data, programming software and technology.
The position and working environment are fast-paced, and multifaceted within a multi-channel service and product business, it represents a fantastic opportunity to contribute, shape and own data science strategy.
**Selection of responsibilities**:
- Drive the strategic direction for data science within the business
- Deliver a range of data science projects, covering large strategic initiatives along with reactive 'quick-win projects focusing on translating, analytics, and data science into impactful and actionable insight,
- Develop predictive analytics capability via the use of sophisticated statistical modelling and machine learning techniques
- Develop algorithms and design experiments to merge, manage, interrogate, and extract data to supply tailored information to colleagues or the wider organisation
- Expand and evangelize best practices for scoping, building, validating, deploying, and monitoring data products
- Demonstrate the ability to utilise data to conclude actionable insights
**Selection of skills**:
- PhD or master’s degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, or similar field
- Experience with applied statistics and quantitative modelling (e.g. regression, survival analysis, segmentation, experimentation, and machine learning & AI).
- Commercial experience using Advance SQL is essential & proficient with one or more programming languages (Python, R, Java, C++ etc.)
- Ideally experience utilizing visualization tools to take advantage of the growing volume of available information e.g. Power Bi, Tableau,
- Comfortable presenting at executive / board level
- Highly analytical, able to translate large volumes of data (both quant and qual) into actionable insights.
- Capacity to work in fast paced commercial environment, able to work at a fast pace across multiple projects and streams
- Results driven problem solver, you deliver high quality work in a timely fashion, and overcome setbacks to deliver what is needed.
**Salary & Benefits**
- Basic salary £75,000 - £85,000
- Car Allowance c£7000
- Performance bonus c25%
- Eligibility for share scheme

**The role can be fully hybrid, suitable applicants can be based anywhere within the UK (periodic team and stakeholder meetings required - London & Midlands)
