**The Role**:
**This role will be based in London.**

We are recruiting a Student Mental Health Advisor to join our Student Wellbeing Team. In this role you will manage a caseload, providing support on a one-to-one basis to students who experience mental health difficulties or with a dual diagnosis of learning difficulties/mental health with associated behavioural issues.

You will be the first point of contact for students who are presenting with moderate to acute mental health issues and will be responsible for providing initial assessments, practical assistance, signposting and advice, making referrals to appropriate external specialist services as required. You will also be able to respond to a crisis situation such as students at immediate risk of self-harm and/or suicidal behaviours, liaising with staff across the group to implement crisis intervention procedures.

You will also contribute to the development and delivery of workshops/group sessions on issues relating to student mental health and work with the Welfare and Wellbeing and Disability Support teams to ensure students can access suitable support and appropriate funding.

You will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline such as Social Work, Mental Health Nursing, Occupational Health, Psychology or Counselling.

You will have experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team in the NHS/local authority, along with experience of working in a clinical capacity within a mental health setting.

Your experience will include the ability to manage situations that are difficult and sensitive in nature, along with crisis intervention and working within policy and procedures to manage the demands of external professional requirements.

In order to satisfy the unpredictable demands of the service, a willingness to work in a flexible capacity is required.
