- What Is the Opportunity?


- Under general supervision provides market leading expert claim handling in areas of investigation, evaluation, negotiation and resolution of assigned claims in accordance with the Company's policies, procedures, best practices and controls at all times on claims arising from Marine lines of business managed by Travelers Syndicate Management (TSM). This job does not manage others.
- What Will You Do?
- As part of Complex Claim the SCP (Senior Claim Professional) will manage and handle a diverse portfolio of complex and often large claims arising from the Marine Liability line of business.
- Provides market leading claim service working closely with the Claim management team and the broader business to deliver and enhance the claim offering.
- Collaborates with Underwriting and Actuarial partners on portfolio, risk mitigation, policy language, and claim trends.
- Partners with Underwriting to sell and market business and strengthen external client relationships.
- To open new claims and to set reserves; to carry out early, appropriate investigations in respect of policy coverage, liability and quantum and to provide legal assistance as necessary.
- To fairly and promptly negotiate settlement of claims and to communicate promptly on cover.
- To ensure that vendors provide a market leading, cost effective service to both insured and the company by continually monitoring their performance, cost and quality.
- To maintain a close working liaison with underwriters and risk management, and where appropriate, to promote the interests of Travelers by working with other business areas.
- Attend to the Insureds and Brokers and to promote the values of the department and the company and the services that it provides.
- To work as a team member providing such support as required by other members of the team and to fully participate in individual and shared project work.

- Lloyds and / or London market experience preferred.
- Strong technical background and expertise with proven track record to manage complex claims (including US losses), key client accounts, addressing trends and issues affecting their business and mitigating risks and exposures.
- Product expertise within Marine Liability, in particular US based risks, preferred.

- Certificate in London Market Insurance preferred.
- What is a Must Have?
- Significant experience and sound judgment handling Marine Liability claims.
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English.

- Retirement: Travelers will make a basic contribution of 9% of pensionable salary to your Group Personal Pension Plan (“GPPP”). If you decide to contribute an additional amount from your salary, you will receive an increased company contribution up to a maximum of 3%. This would bring the total company contribution to 12%.
