**Job Summary**:
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Clinical Duties**:
- Assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of urological conditions.
- Provide urological services across both inpatient and outpatient settings, including but not limited to:
- **General Urology**:
- **Urological Oncology**:
- **Endourology**:
- **Laparoscopic Urology**:
- **Reconstructive Urology**:
- **Stone Disease**:
- **Andrology**:
- **Female Urology** (e.g., incontinence and pelvic floor disorders)
- **Pediatric Urology** (if applicable)
- **Renal Transplantation** (if applicable)
- **Neuro-urology**:
- **Uro-gynaecology** (if applicable)
- Participate in and lead ward rounds, providing leadership and expert input in complex cases.
- Undertake regular urological procedures such as cystoscopy, TURP (Transurethral Resection of the Prostate), stent placements, and biopsy procedures.
Provide emergency care for urological admissions, including trauma, obstruction, and acute infections.
**Multidisciplinary Team Working**:
- Work closely with consultant urologists, nursing staff, allied health professionals, and other clinical teams to ensure comprehensive and patient-centred care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, discussing patient management and treatment plans.
**Teaching and Education**:
- Provide guidance and support for junior doctors and medical students.
- Participate in training sessions, teaching opportunities, and departmental education events.
**Quality and Safety**:
- Contribute to maintaining high clinical standards in line with NHS policies and guidelines.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and patient safety reviews.
- Ensure accurate documentation in line with clinical governance standards.
**Research (Optional)**:
- Participate in clinical research and trials, contributing to the department’s academic and research outputs (if desired).
**Qualifications and Requirements**:
- **Essential Qualifications**:
- **Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)** with a license to practice.
- **MRCS / FRCS (Urol)** or equivalent in Urology.
- **Completion of relevant post-graduate training** in urology (specialty training or equivalent experience).
- **Experience**:
- Extensive experience in **Urology**, with a proven track record of managing both complex and routine urological conditions.
- Experience in performing a wide range of urological procedures, including endoscopic, laparoscopic, and open surgery.
- Demonstrated ability to manage acute urological emergencies.
- Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams and liaising with other specialties.
- Familiarity with NHS clinical governance, safety protocols, and patient pathways.
**Desirable Skills and Attributes**:
- Previous experience working in a **consultant-led urology department**.
- Experience in supervising junior medical staff and teaching.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage a busy caseload.
- Flexibility to work across different hospital sites within the Trust.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Evidence of participation in **clinical audit** and **quality improvement initiatives**.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months
Pay: £55.00-£80.00 per hour
Expected hours: 45 - 50 per week
