As a non-medical prescriber working with Birmingham Recovery Team (previously known as IDTS) based in HMP Birmingham, you will have the opportunity to work in one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places of of work for healthcare professionals.

As an NMP within HMP Birmingham you will work within a new integrated Healthcare Service to meet the needs of a complex and evolving population of people.

This role involves assessing, planning and treating patients that come into prison with substance issues be that alcohol or drugs. Having just won a tender and now have a new psychosocial team joining us it is an exciting time for the addictions team here and we need a dynamic and eager person to join the team, bringing fresh ideas and a willingness to evolve the service.

**Main duties to include**:

- Assessing and devising individualised treatment plans with patients entering the prison establishment.
- To review treatment plans jointly with psychosocial team.
- To provide advice and health education to patients.
- To work as part of a full MDT support patients through their recovery journey.
- You will need to have Non-medical prescribing qualification with a minimum 12 months experience and in-depth knowledge of the issues affecting affecting people who use substances.
- RCGP part 1 or willing to do.

- The post holder will provide effective and efficient management of delegated resources within a defined clinical area while ensuring care delivery meets and addresses the issues of spirituality, equality diversity and rights in accordance with good practice and legislation.
- Will be responsible for actively prescribing within a defined area and for a defined group of Service-users.
- Act as a role model for junior staff, and in a manner, which positively reflects the values of the organisation and in a way which will ensure that effective communication pathways exist with internal and external stakeholders aimed at developing current models of care.
- They will lead in the training, planning implementation and evaluation of nursing care for a defined clinical area and ensure that all staff within the post holder’s sphere of responsibility have a working knowledge of local, national policies and legislation which govern current service provision.
