Job Introduction
BBC Arabic provides news, current affairs and programmes on Radio, TV and Online to Arabic speaking audiences in the Middle East and across the world, 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

The output is modern in style and outlook and adheres to BBC values of accuracy and impartiality. It has broad appeal, free from commercial, political and religious affiliations or pressures.

Main Responsibilities
Arabic TV News is recruiting Senior Journalists to produce Trending (and other Digital friendly shows) and output in the gallery.

Day to day duties will include:

- Producing Digital friendly news bulletins in the gallery, updating running orders and providing/requesting guests to comment on stories.
- Able to pick impactful social media news and turn them to TV offering in a creative way using modern technologies and verification tools,
- Building running orders, creative sequences and appealing headlines using modern techniques and digital journalism.
- Writing creative TV news in Arabic to the highest linguistic standards, free from grammar mistakes.
- Recording packages and soundbites in broadcast quality.
- Following the latest updates about the Middle East/North Africa/Gulf region and providing analysis.
- Leading breaking and rolling news in the gallery to the highest standards
- Works rota pattern including night/early/late day shifts.
- Lead a team of journalists on a day to day basis, but also contribute in ideas.
- To find/suggest contributors and interviewees as well as other sources of material and/or actuality, as appropriate and to the required specification.
- To liaise closely with other team members and with other departments in BBC Arabic, to ensure that output material is shared, duplication is avoided, and best practice is upheld.
- Able to pick impactful social media news and turn them to TV offering in a creative way using modern technologies and verification tools
- Sound knowledge of referral tools, media laws and editorial policy.
- A clear understanding of copy-right issues in both TV and digital platforms
- Proven knowledge of the verification of user-generated content (UGC)
- Able to communicate effectively in English and translating pieces from English to Arabic and vice versa.
