A day in the life of

As a Housekeeping Supervisor, you will work closely with the Housekeeping Manager, leading the housekeeping team and playing a vital role within the hotel’s management team. You will adopt a proactive and innovative approach to staff development, enhancing team performance while accurately assessing the business’s staffing requirements. Your primary focus will be on maintaining and monitoring the highest standards of cleanliness throughout the hotel.

In this role, you will support the department with a variety of responsibilities, including opening duties, managing room inventory, overseeing brand documentation, and submitting payroll and rotas. Additionally, you will conduct room inspections and plan daily tasks to ensure cleanliness standards are met, with a keen focus on achieving productivity targets. You will also manage areas such as lost property, stock control, and the overall smooth operation of the housekeeping department, including the supervision of Room Attendants, Public Area Cleaners, and Linen Porters.

A key aspect of your role will be leading by example, assisting with room cleaning and bed stripping, when necessary, while providing valuable feedback and training to your team, as well as inducting new employees into the business. You will maintain a hands-on approach, dedicating approximately half of your time—around 20 hours per week, depending on business needs—to cleaning duties in rooms, public areas, or assisting the linen porters.

Collaboration with both the reception, reservations maintenance teams will be essential to ensure the seamless delivery of daily operations. Flexibility throughout the week is important, as you will need to adjust to the hotel’s changing requirements and ensure smooth operations on a day-to-day basis.
