**Job description**:
We have a fantastic opportunity for a motivated finance professional to join us as the Head of Finance Business Partnering at the MCA. The Finance function is a key enabler for the MCA to ensure we can deliver crucial services in relation to search and rescue, environmental protection and safety and major maritime incidents.

Reporting to the Assistant Director Strategic Finance, the Head of Finance Business Partnering will be a key member of the Senior Management Team and will lead and inspire the Finance Business Partner team to deliver the efficient and effective management of the MCA budget. The successful applicant will champion value for money and oversee resources to ensure the strategic aims of the agency are achieved, whist fostering a high performing culture through continuous improvement.

This is a great opportunity to take up a varied, high-profile role working with stakeholders at the very top of an exciting organisation, in order to support decisions which contribute to the safety and saving of lives on the coast and at sea.

This role will be based in the Southampton HQ. MCA supports flexible working and operates a hybrid working model between home and office for this role, giving you greater flexibility over where and when you work. Details of the arrangement will be discussed further with your line manager.

There may be a requirement for travel on official duty within the UK and overseas or offshore, which may involve overnight stays away from home.

**Responsibilities**:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Leading the Finance Business Partner team to provide effective and value-adding support, challenge and advice across the agency on financials plans and performance.
- Providing timely, accurate and clearly communicated financial planning information and insight on both Resource and Capital budgets.
- Preparing regular financial reporting for the Executive Team to ensure robust understanding of financial performance, issues and opportunities, and to provide challenge and influence to aid effective decision making.
- Providing strategic advice and analysis on financial impact, performance and risk to senior stakeholders and, through this, contributing to the strategic direction of wider business areas.
- Providing specialist financial advice to the Agency on financial forecasting, budget setting and other key financial processes

**About You**

We are looking to be joined by a qualified finance professional with CCAB or CIMA or equivalent membership and demonstrable experience in a finance business partnering role.

We will look for you to bring strong leadership capabilities with the ability to coach and support your team to enable development and growth. You will motivate and lead from the front, role modelling commitment and inspiring others to ensure all strategic objectives are met and quality standards continue to improve.

You are a confident communicator, comfortable with challenging senior stakeholders and able to influence across all levels, considering the priorities within the business areas. You’re able to collaborate effectively, making and maintaining robust working relationships and establishing yourself as a trusted and credible advisor.

You’re able to manage and organise tasks and resources efficiently, balancing competing priorities and making necessary adjustments along the way.

As a strategic thinker, you analyse all factors and variables in order to exercise sound judgement when providing advice, support and challenge and you are able to interpret, analyse and present data to aid decision making.
