**Job Introduction**:
You will be joining the 0 to 25 Integrated Assessment team at an exciting time as we develop our ways of working and our person centred approach to supporting children and young people with SEND and their parents and carers.
You will work within the legal requirements of the Children and Families Act 2014 and associated SEND Code of Practice: 0 to 25 to ensure:
- Coordinated, person centred, outcome focussed and holistic Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessment, planning and review.
- Concise, accessible and high quality EHC Plans that identify appropriate provision and support and are forward looking, with planning for key transition points.
- Statutory compliance including statutory timescales.
- The Local Authority is effectively represented at at Mediation Meetings and Tribunals.
You must be a self-motivated and organised individual with the ability to work as part of a busy team and independently. You must have an awareness and understanding of the impact of SEND on individuals and their families and you must be passionate and committed to the positive impact the EHC needs assessment, planning and provision can have on a child and young person’s access to education and preparation for adult life. You are likely to have already worked in a senior position within a social care or educational setting.
You will also have:
- A good understanding of relevant legislation and guidance and the ability to keep up to date with changes in legislation and guidance, local policy and practice.
- The ability to coordinate assessments and produce EHC plans through effective person centred planning and analysis of information from a variety of sources.
- The ability to transfer knowledge and skills in to diverse situations and anticipate issues and situations.
- IT skills to support effective and accurate case recording and casework.
- Good communication skills, to be able to respond to a wide audience including children and young people, parents, schools, Governors, SENCOs and Head Teachers.
- Good written skills to write EHCPs taking all advice into consideration, to prepare Tribunal Case Statements and to produce a range of written correspondence
- Ability to work effectively with conflicting demands and to deadlines
