As a key central function to the whole of the Severn Trent group, this high profile role will mean that you are involved in some of the biggest decisions with some of the most senior leaders and biggest personalities in our organisation. In this role you’ll partner Technology business area, focusing mainly on our operating Tech costs, leading on monthly reporting to management teams and supporting them in driving performance. You will collaborate with IS, BI and wider Severn Trent group finance teams to embed improvements and best practice. You will be responsible for month-end reporting and providing regular forecasts and budgets. You’ll be instrumental in identifying opportunities for cost efficiencies and supporting on projects to drive improvements and review business case efficiencies.

We’d like to see you facilitate the production of robust forecasts for Opex, and also facilitate the Regulatory reporting process to make sure robust financial and non-financial outputs are provided to OFWAT. You’ll provide analysis and insight on monthly, annual and AMP performance targets. As you will be partnering with our Technology business, we’ll look for you to pay close attention to the financial performance of our software assisted service (SaaS) and have an ability to scrutinise and challenge licence contracts costs, working closely with our Technology budget holder to drive robust control and saving opportunities.

We will look for you to be financially savvy and ideally have experience of working in a business where what you do matters and you have full accountability for your actions. It would be brilliant if you have experience in a financial analysis capacity and substantive finance and/or commercial experience. Being a fully qualified accountant would be a positive but is not essential; although we would like someone who’s well underway with their studies and has an ambition to achieve the qualification.
