We are looking for an Associate Scientist to join our team in Newcastle. This is a phenomenal role for someone who has an understanding of histopathology, histological/immunohistochemical and molecular biology techniques either from studies or from the NHS. This is a great opportunity for a recent Graduate to get their first Scientist position with a growing company.
In this role, you’ll
The generation and evaluation of antibodies and or detection methodologies for use in vitro diagnostic (IVD) assays for use in cancer diagnosis in manual and automated staining systems.
Working as part of a team to examine the viability of potential research projects.
Contributing towards department innovation initiatives.
Devising detailed plans for the development, verification and validation of new products. This requires a comprehensive literature search, a review of existing/rival products, and use of databases prior to deciding which approach to use.
Involvement in microscopic slide examination and interpretation of antibody/probe staining primarily on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue where required
What you’ll need to do the job
Experience of working within a regulated environment (desirable).
Understanding of histopathology, histological/immunohistochemical and molecular biology techniques
Good organisational skills and time management
Ability to undertake research with appropriate instruction, guidance and direction from others
Excellent attention to detail
Relevant laboratory experience
