We are looking for a **Transport Operator - Nights**, to join the team at our **Washington** site.

**Shift Pattern**: 4 on, 4 off, Monday - Friday, 18:00 to 06:00 with 1 hour for lunch, although a degree of flexibility is required in order to meet the demands of the business.

**Job Description**:

- Ensuring that all elements of the job are effectively communicated to drivers and sub-contractors.
- To plan the effective utilisation of drivers, vehicles, sub-contractors and agencies
- Ensure that all drivers are working within a safe environment and follow driver hours regulations.
- Liaising with Night Transport Supervisor to optimise fleet/driver utilisation, identifying and resolving problems affecting delivery on time.
- To assist in the control of equipment, ensuring that customer requirements are met and recorded.
- Conducting investigations into accidents or issues of driver performance.
- Working with Compliance to ensure trucks are legal and information is downloaded
- Working alongside the Night Transport Supervisor to ensure that costs are managed in accordance with the KPI’s.
- Supporting Drivers with callouts and breakdowns.
- Building and Matching of ASN’S to loads ensuring compliance
- Completing Accident, Incident and Near Miss Paperwork
- Tracking of Drivers using ISOTRAK / Microlise systems. Telephoning Drivers and sub-contractors
- Compiling and sending nightly DOT reports and KPI’s to internal and external customers.

This list is not exhaustive, and the job holder may be required to undertake other duties.

**Qualifications**:

- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent

Desirable
- CPC National/ International qualification

**Experience**:

- Experience of working within a distribution / transport environment
- Able to work to challenging deadlines in a pressurised environment
- Excellent organisational skills
- Adaptable and flexible in approach to work
- Written and verbal communication

Desirable
- Sound geographical knowledge
- Basic understanding of driver’s hours regulations/Tachograph law
- Basic fridge operation knowledge - Start / Stop / change temperatures / clear faults.
